Bee endorsement: Matsui has served in Congress for two decades. Should she be re-elected? | Opinion

For nearly two decades, Congresswoman Doris Matsui has represented the Sacramento region as a champion for clean energy, health care and technology. The district is centered in Sacramento and includes Elk Grove, West Sacramento, Wilton and Rancho Murieta. Notably, also located in District 7 is the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. In Congress, Matsui has prioritized the issue of flood control and helped secure $4 billion in investments in local flood protections. “Sacramento likes results, and it’s my job to deliver,” the congresswoman said.

Longtime Rep. Doris Matsui, D-Sacramento, has three challengers in the March 5 primary for California’s 7th Congressional District. The 7th covers southern Sacramento County — including downtown Sacramento and Elk Grove — and bits of Solano and Yolo counties, including West Sacramento. The top two vote-getters will advance from the March 5 primary to the Nov. 5 general election.

Kamala Harris energizes Sacramento with reelection campaign visit

As Harris stepped off of Air Force Two, she was met with a flurry of activity. Lt. Gov Eleni Kounalakis, currently acting governor while Gavin Newsom campaigns for Biden, was one of the first to welcome Harris to the city. Rep. Doris Matsui, Attorney General Rob Bonta, and Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg also joined in on the reception, eager to show their support for the vice president.
